Half-Day Sit (online)
Zen
Three-hour online zazen sit. Described as suitable for both new and experienced students, focusing on connecting with stillness and refuge.
About this retreat
A short online sit for zazen practice—three hours of sitting without the commitment or logistics of a full-day or residential retreat. These half-day intensives work well if you have a regular sitting practice at home or at a local center and want a focused group session, or if you're curious about Zen sitting but can't commit to a longer format.
The stated focus—connecting with stillness, finding what Zen calls the "heart-mind," and taking refuge—is the core work of zazen across most Zen lineages. Three hours allows time for several periods of sitting, typically with walking (kinhin) between them to reset the legs and mind. Online participation means you'll be sitting in your own space, which removes some of the intensity of a group sesshin but also removes travel and lodging barriers.
